Can You Feel a Draft?
Hi All, Thought you might be interested in this video by Ian Prickett. It was filmed soon after the Ice Train left on its fuel drop, and is a good example of the continuing need for improvisation which the team will face throughout the expedition. Operations HQ,…

Time Lapse Video Showing Cadets Ashore and Vast Ice Sheet
Click the link to see the latest time lapse from Antarctica, showing the SA Agulhas in Crown Bay whilst a large chunk of shelf ice crosses from right to left in the background. It’s difficult to appreciate the scale of it from the GoPro footage, but we estimate it was in the region of 500m long and travelled 1.5km during the 1.5hours of the time lapse footage. So a very large lump of ic…

Note how a line of shadow drifts slowly across the snow at the bottom of the screen. Not sure what it is, but it shows off the tim…

VIDEO: SA Agulhas arrives in Crown Bay (20th January, 2013)
This stop-frame video shows SA Agulhas arriving at Crown Bay yesterday (sorry for the delay, technical issues). See the ship sail up to the ice shelf and then retreat back to moor against a tabular ice berg. The ice shelf was too high to start unloading, so it was decided that she would be better off moored further out to sea than risk becoming trapped by pack ice. We are hoping that we will b…
