St. Mary’s Primary School, Newton Aycliffe
Lovely to see Mary again. She was even mentioned in our Ofsted report! We had the inspectors in school the day of that interview. You can see our part of the interview and hear all the questions and answers on our class blog at http://stmarysnewtonaycliffey5.blogspot.co.uk/

5 days ago I wondered on this blog whether the camp was going to be permanent and that the Coldest Journey is now effectively abandoned? No reply from TCJ head office or on later blogs. Anyone else curious?

Perhaps the wording of an announcement is still being negotiated between the expedition leaders and co-leaders “at the front”, back in the operations headquarters in London, and in early retirement — that can’t be an easy task.

Absence of comment from HQ and no sign of progress south for several weeks does make one fear for the worst. Curious.

Surely it would have been announced already if someone was ill or if the Cats had packed up – and there’s no hint of anything like that in Richmond’s video, just silence about what the plans are after the “camp”. The team have food and fuel scoots and as much time as they want to proceed south carefully – so why would they not do so if men and machines are healthy? Very curious.

no comment is also a comment in itself… high likelihood they are done

No updates for 5 days. Are we suspicious ones to assume the whole team has been swallowed by one of those humongous crevasses, or are they sitting around waiting to be rescued?

It is clearly now time for the HQ to put out a statement, to calm the increasing speculation. I do hope they will take note of this. Patrick.

Getting curious now as to what is going on. With no update for several days and nothing from HQ, and with slow and dangerous progress I am wondering if the team now plan to winter out where they are. I just hope all are safe and well.

I see on what was once satellite page that Distance Travelled is now given as 150km. That’s an extremely pessimistic estimate given they were once almost at 73 degrees south – Over 200 miles from coast. Or … are they making their way back to the coast?? Pity speculation can’t be averted by a simple message from HQ. Curiouser and curiouser

Things look desperately hard for you all at the moment, especially when you must be so tired. This illustrates how brave and courageous you are to carry on so far. Good Luck gentlemen, you are wonderful role models to all of us.
