The Coldest Journey’s Ice Team have taken on the biggest challenge of their lives and they’re asking what you can do to challenge yourself and raise money for Seeing is Believing.

Every day, for the 285 million visually impaired people around the world, life can be challenging.  Given that 90% of the world’s visually impaired people live in developing countries, life can be especially challenging.  However, 80% of the world’s blindness is avoidable – it can be prevented or treated!  For example, for as little as US$30 (GBP£20), we can pay for a sight-restoring cataract operation.

Can you challenge yourself to raise money to help people see?  It could be anything from a mountain trek, a 10K run, or something as personally challenging as giving up chocolate for six months!

This is a chance for you to follow in the footsteps of our intrepid expedition team.

Set up a fundraising page via JustGiving and ask your friends and family to sponsor you to complete your challenge. Standard Chartered matches all donations so the impact of your fundraising will be doubled!

Tips to building your page:

  • If you don’t already have an account with JustGiving, you’ll need to register.  This is quick and easy and in setting up your page, you’ll be asked to set up an account.
  • Click “Make a page”
  • Fill in your details and “Create account”
  • Click on “Organised Event”, then choose “Coldest Journey”
  • You’ll be asked to name your fundraising page – ideally make this memorable with your name or team’s name

Send the page URL link (i.e. web address) to your friends and family and tell them that you’re fundraising.
