Operations Deputy Manager
Hugh studied psychology at Reading University before enduring a short-lived career in advertising in Soho whilst he tried to work out what to do with his life. After spending four fantastic years as a journalist for the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News, he made the leap into entrepreneurship and founded Utterly Eco, which sells eco-friendly and fair trade alternatives to the things people buy every day. In years gone by, Hugh travelled extensively around the world and enjoyed trekking in the Himalayas and Atlas mountains, scuba-diving in the Great Barrier Reef and white-water rafting down the Zambezi. Despite dreams of one day reaching the South Pole he has, as yet, failed to get any further south than the tidal pool in Umdloti, South Africa. Hugh is an award-winning environmental journalist and is the author of two books on sustainably living. For The Coldest Journey he is working alongside Tristam Kaye in the Operations HQ in London, with responsibilities including website content and media relations. He lives and works in East Sussex.
