Trustee
Having studied to Tonbridge School in Kent, which laid down an excellent attitude to life, Richard qualified in 1966 as a chartered accountant in London and promptly set up an expedition to drive overland through the East side of Africa to Cape Town in South Africa where he worked for a while. He has sailed for a number of years, now lives in Devon and more recently has trekked in the Himalayas to continue his thirst for a challenge and for adventure. He has been a partner in, but now works as a consultant for, London-based Haysmacintyre, a leading firm of chartered accountants and tax advisers. It was an historic client relationship which brought Richard to The Transglobe Expedition Trust and thence to helping with the set up the TAWT Trust Limited for it to undertake The Coldest Journey.
