Tony first worked with Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Anton Bowring helping to set up the Transglobe Expedition (1979 – 1982), specifically creating a wholly sponsored insurance programme for the expedition. He survived the experience and went on to maintain a career in the insurance industry, serving on the Market Board of Lloyd’s of London and also to create the world’s largest specialist aerospace insurance company , Global Aerospace Underwriting Ltd. Tony is both a former President of the International Union of Aerospace Insurers and Chairman of the International Underwriting Association of London. He was chairman of the Aerospace Defence Group arising out of September 11 insurance losses in New York City. Currently, he is Chairman of Great Lakes Insurance Plc, a director of BRIT insurance and a member of the board of trustees of the Barbican Arts Centre in London. Aside from business, Tony is a keen skier and last year he completed the ‘Haute Route’ between Chamonix & Zermatt. He has also previously white water rafted through the Grand Canyon.
